The Man Behind the Brand
No matter the time or place, a New Yorker is always going to stand out. Matthew Neree, a third-year kinesiology major from Long Island is an example of this. At home, he is one of five siblings, but at Hampton he has reportedly made a name for himself.
Neree is a member of the Black Retail Action Group (B.R.A.G.), a student in the Freddye T. Davy Honors College, a spring 2022 initiate of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated, and he serves as Mr. Kinesiology and Mr.Northpac. Additionally, Neree is the owner of Ghetto Scholars, a clothing brand working to redefine stereotypes.
Ghetto Scholars have been a part of the Neree family for some time. The name originated from his brother's band and the clothing brand released its first hoodie when Neree was only in sixth grade.
The hoodies were branded with the brand's signature G.S. logo. and they were hugely popular on the streets of New York. The success of the apparel motivated Neree to travel down an entrepreneurial path in his life journey.
